Health professionals face a big challenge when it comes to improving the health and fitness of your clients.
Each week you might get to spend 2 or 3 hours with your clients training and/or educating them on the various ways they can make the changes that can have massive impacts on their health.
But you then rely on your clients to stick with that plan for the other 165 hours a week that they aren't face-to-face with you.
And it's in those other 165 hours that the success or failure of your well thought out programs truly lies.
Of those 165 hours, roughly 52.5 hours a week is spent sleeping.
Or at least it should be...
The truth is that for many of your clients, the amount of sleep they're getting is much less than what it should be.
And this lack of sleep could be secretly sabotaging the progress they should be making by following your programs, guidance and advice.
If you've ever had a client who just wasn't making progress no matter how hard they tried...
And you just couldn't figure out what the problem was...
Then it's very possible that poor sleep was secretly at fault.
You see science is now uncovering the truth about the role of sleep in EVERY area of our health.
In particular studies are now showing beyond dispute that if you're not getting enough sleep then you're going to find it much, MUCH tougher to lose weight, gain muscle and achieve the level of health and fitness that you're striving for.
That means YOUR job gets tougher if your clients aren't sleeping well.
And if they don't understand the role of sleep, then there's a pretty good chance they're going to blame you for the program not working, even though the sleep they're not getting is having a massive impact.
So it only makes sense that at the very least, you as the health professional would include a discussion with your client on the importance of sleep as part of your overall program.
Much like you would with the fitness and nutrition of your client, you would engage with them on a regular basis to discuss how they're sleep has been.
But we believe health professionals like you can play a MUCH bigger role.
As many as 1 in 3 adults are not getting the recommended amount of sleep each night. A big chunk of these are getting MUCH less than they should be and they're health is suffering as a result.
So this is where you come in.
You see, there is probably nobody in the life of your client who understands their health, their lifestyle and their struggles as much as you do.
And there's also probably nobody in the life of your client who can deliver health-related recommendations that are actually followed like you can.
Your clients trust you and value your opinion.
So when you tell them that they can accelerate their progress by getting better sleep...they're going to listen.
And when you tell them that making progress is going to be a whole lot tougher when they're not getting enough sleep...they're DEFINITELY going to listen.
Positioning yourself as someone who understands the impact of sleep can be very beneficial to your business.
Your clients are going to see better results...
They are going to be much more likely to refer new clients your way...
And your reputation will grow as a health professional who consistently delivers.
It's About More Than Making Sleep Hygiene Recommendations
When you're working with clients on fitness and nutrition, you do more than just hand them a list of recommendations.
You assess, your strategize, you set goals, you advise, you assist, you discuss, you monitor, you adjust, you progress.
There is a regular two-way conversation with your clients about how things are going, what is or isn't working and what changes can be made to continue moving in the right direction.
When sleep plays such a vital role in the success or failure of your clients, why wouldn't you take a more proactive approach to the sleep health of your clients?
Become more consistent in talking with them about their sleep.
By continually raising the topic with your clients, they come to understand that you truly believe in the importance of sleep and they are going to be much more likely to pay attention to that area of their health.
Assess their current situation, establish some goals and track their progress.
You wouldn't design a fitness program without knowing where they're at or where they want to get to.
Sleep should be no different.
You can't really talk to them in depth about their sleep if you don't actually know anything about how they sleep right now.
